Nellie I. Chanadet, a resident for four years at Parker Personal Care Home, formerly of Euclid Avenue, Grove City, passed away at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday (12-18-12), in Visiting Nurses Association Inpatient Unit Hospice, Butler, after a four-year illness. She was 91.
Mrs. Chanadet was born Oct. 5, 1921, in Stoneboro to Charles and Inez Nicklin Taylor.
She formerly was a school bus driver in the Mercer Area School District and worked with her husband in their Arctic Cat Snowmobile business.
A homemaker. she married Albert J. Chanadet on Dec. 16, 1939. He died June 9, 1984.
A member of Tower Presbyterian Church, Grove City, she was a former deacon and belonged to the Presbyterian Women's group. She also attended Leesburg Presbyterian Church.
Nellie was active with Grove City Meals on Wheels.
Surviving are: two children, Charles L. Chanadet and his wife Karen, Grove City; and Carol J. Beatty and her husband Dean, Eau Claire; five grandchildren, Megan Shaffer and her husband Josh, and Jonathan Chanadet and his wife Lauren, all Pittsburgh; James A. Beatty and his wife Janeen, and Michael D. Beatty, all Eau Claire; and Jenna R. Beatty, Greensburg, Pa.; and four great-grandchildren, Helen M. and Finn J. Shaffer and Halle Q. and Guerrin James Beatty.
Besides her husband, Nellie was preceded in death by her parents; a son, A. Daniel Chanadet; and two sisters, Ruth Cozad and Ethel Campbell.
Calling hours were Friday (12-21-12) in Cunningham Funeral Home Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.
Funeral service was Saturday (12-22-12) in the funeral home, with the Rev. Thomas "Tom" Gomola, pastor of Leesburg Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Interment in Crestview Memorial Park Inc., Grove City. Memorial contributions may be made in Nellie's memory to Visiting Nurses Association Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.
