Cooper Industries retiree was avid golfer, bowler

PINE — Robert A. Bowser of 718 Terrace Ave., Grove City, formerly of Rimersburg, Pa., passed away at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, June 17, 2012, in Orchard Manor, Pine Township, surrounded by his family after a 2½-year illness. He was 90.

Born in Wildcat, Clarion County, on Aug. 1, 1921, Mr. Bowser was a son of Robert Mead Bowser and Mabel Kellerman Bowser.

He retired as a machinist in 1985 from Cooper Industries in Grove City.

An Army veteran, Mr. Bowser served as a staff sergeant, stationed in the South Pacific.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City.

Robert was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed attending his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events.

His wife, the former Greta Buzard, whom he married June 24, 1949, survives at the residence.

Besides his wife, he is survived by: a daughter, Carol, wife of Philip Codispot, Harrisville; a sister, Betty Flick, Sligo, Pa.; a brother, Gerald E. Bowser and his wife Betty, Grove City; seven grandchildren, Clifford and his wife Kristina Codispot, East Brady, Pa.; Quentin Codispot, Pittsburgh; Brian Codispot and his companion Amy Baudino, Cranberry, Pa.; Tara and her husband Jerry Bennett, Grove City; Derek Codispot, Amityville, N.Y.; Ashley Codispot and Adam Polachek, Grove City; and Brett Codispot, Pittsburgh; and 10 great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Kentin, Jada, Mira and Trey Codispot; Natalee and Adria Codispot; and Bryce, Brooke and Paytyn Bennett.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Calling hours were Wednesday (6-20-12) in Cunningham Funeral Home Inc., Grove City.

Funeral service was Thursday (6-21-12) in the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald Hankey, family member, and the Rev. Willard Morse, retired minister, officiating.

Interment in Rimersburg Cemetery, Clarion County.
