PITTSBURGH —
Steve Shonka, 2616 Mercer Street, Sandy Lake, passed away at 2:55 p.m. Saturday (10-13-12) at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 54.
Steve was born on Dec. 19, 1957, in Pittsburgh, a son of Harry R. and Lilian (King) Shonka.
On April 12, 1980, he married the former Linda C. Lauer, who survives.
Steve had been employed by Grove City Auto Mall as an auto body technician for the past 11 years.
He was an avid golfer, enjoyed wood working, gardening and was always found to be remodeling.
He always enjoyed the company of his family on their many vacations taken at the beach.
In addition to his wife of 32 years, he is survived by a son, Ethan Shonka of Sandy Lake; two daughters: Jaime Shonka Turner and her husband David and Samantha Shonka, all of Raleigh, NC.; his parents of Jackson Center; and two brothers: Wayne Shonka of Jackson Center, and Larry Shonka and his wife Patty, of Greenville.
A memorial visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. today (10-17-12) in Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 3223 Perry Highway, Sheakleyville. Friends are also invited to share memories and condolences with the family online at www.rlsfh.com.
A service of remembrance will be held at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home, with the Rev. Harry Wood, retired pastor, officiating.
A cremation will be held.
