PITTSBURGH —
Watson H. Shipley of 1847 Powers Ave., Sharpsville, passed away peacefully at 2:48 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, in UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, after a brief illness. He was 72.
Mr. Shipley was born Nov. 21, 1939, in Mann Township, a son of Stanley R. and Mabel I. Akers Shipley.
He served in the Army, having been stationed in Germany.
Watson had worked as a truck driver at Paul's Beverage, New Castle. He had also worked as a truck driver for the former Interstate Motor Freight and the former Hall's Motor Freight companies. He was a former member of Local 261 of the Teamsters union, New Castle.
He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, watching NASCAR and sprint car races, and spending time with his family.
His wife, the former Nancy E. Rowser Edwards, whom he married May 3, 1996, survives at home.
Also surviving are: his daughter, Malinda Hawkins and her husband Rod, Booneville, Ind.; his son, Brian Shipley and his wife Missy, Greenville; two stepsons, Chuck Edwards and his wife Tammy, Mercer; Kelly Edwards and his wife Dodi, Warren, Ohio; along with his four sisters, Ruth Clingerman and her husband Addison, Akron; Evelyn Casey and her husband Arthur, Bedford; Irma Edwards, Mercer; and Shirley Robinson and her husband Mike, Mattie, Pa.; and a brother, Wayne Shipley, Littlestown, Pa.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Shipley; and two brothers, Marshall and Glenn Shipley.

Memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, in Fairview Christian Church, Mann Township, Bedford County, with the Rev. Milton Morris officiating.
Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Mann Township.
Cremation and service arrangements by Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 E. State St., Sharon.
