Blue Ribbon Tavern reopens

GROVE CITY — Blue Ribbon Tavern in downtown Grove City has been up and running for over a week after a brief shutdown.

"There's all kinds of rumors swirling around there," said employee Rose Foster.

However, the business had water problems in the basement "and it took a couple of days to make repairs," she said.

The business closed Jan. 28 and reopened Feb. 1, Foster said.

The tavern, located at 131 S. Broad St., is the only private business to have a liquor license in the borough. "We'll be here five years in August," Foster said.

Part of the rumors included sewage issues at the tavern, which were bogus, she noted.

A representative from the Pennsylvania Department of Health stated that it had no complaints against Blue Ribbon. PDOH mainly enforces no-smoking regulations in establishments.

Blue Ribbon is owned by Jimmy Nicholson and Richard Baker, who could not be reached for comment.
