Jazz, classical musician takes Guthrie stage

Tickets for next arts guild event are on sale now

GROVE CITY — The Guthrie Arts Guild announces that its second event of the fall season -- set for noon Oct. 14 -- will feature Stanley Chepaitis on the Guthrie Theater stage.

Chepaitis, a jazz and classical violinist, will be joined by Peter Dugas on keyboard and Nathan Santos on bass.

Chepaitis is a recognized artist whose accomplishments span those of a jazz performer and educator, conductor and composer, as well as success in classical music as a violinist, concertmaster, and teacher.

He has performed both jazz and classical repertoire on concert stages in Europe and America and collaborated with David Diamond, John Blake, and Diane Monroe.

In 1978, Stanley met Joe Venuti and, after playing for the jazz legend, Stanley was invited to perform with his idol for the remaining two weeks of Venuti's concert tour.

His recent appearances in Washington State, Idaho, Kansas, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, New York, and New Mexico blend his talents as performer, educator, and conductor, as do the repeat engagements he receives annually from numerous Suzuki Institutes throughout the country.

Scheduled for Nov. 11, the Guthrie Arts Guild will present the Pittsburgh based group Callan, which translates as "An Irish Gaelic 'Ruckus'."

This versatile foursome brings bagpipes, vocals, accordion, guitar, fiddle and bodhran percussion talent to the stage.

This arts program series is specifically designed to allow members of all ages to easily access the world of professional arts. From retirees to business people to children, these events capture the imagination, feed the body and nurture the soul. Lasting less than an hour during noontime, patrons can come, eat, enjoy professional artists and return to their jobs, schools or homes with a refreshed outlook.

Tickets are $9 and are available for two weeks leading up to the event. Cost includes a catered lunch.

Tickets are sold at several Grove City locations, including; Beans on Broad, Burdick's, County Market, Grove City Community Library, Nelson's Flower Shop, Robert F. Savolskis CPA and the Guthrie Theater.

Buy your tickets ahead to reserve a boxed lunch meal. Tickets are also available at the door. The meal for this event will be provided by Red Roo Catering, Grove City.
